Jamal Kiyasudeen · Growth Architect

I Learned Business in the field, not in Classroom.

Sometimes we don't understand why we go through tough jobs or hard times — the reason only becomes clear much later in life. Every effort, every meeting, every conversation taught me lessons I'll always carry with me. Even more valuable was the real-world experience I gained. I'm grateful I went through that difficult phase, because it left me with memories I'll never forget.

My Spicy Life Journey

One obsession.

Started making burgers at McDonald's in Offenburg, Germany. Learned that systems separate the good from the great. Finished with an MSc in Information Technology and a kitchen that ran like clockwork.

2023 - Strategic Compass | Closing the Gap

Founded Strategic Compass on one belief: businesses don't fail on bad ideas, they fail when strategy never becomes execution. A go-to-market advisory built to close that gap.

What is my Takeaway

I Did Not Learn
Business in a Classroom.
I Learned it In the Field.

From McDonald's counters to Café Nero. From serving a café latte to AR Rahman at London Heathrow to turning around a failing vegetarian restaurant after office hours. From Siemens and Emirates SkyCargo to EFQM Senior Assessor. From a published book during Covid to three businesses running simultaneously in Dubai.

Every Role Taught Me the
Same Thing. Systems Win.

The businesses that thrive are almost never the ones with the best ideas. They are the ones with the clearest systems, the most disciplined execution, and the strongest accountability structures.

"Every role I have ever taken, I have left better than I found it. Not because I was told to. Because I could see exactly what was broken - and I knew how to fix it."
How I think

Seven lenses,
One Integrated Mind

I do not see business problems in isolation. Every challenge a founder brings me touches strategy, growth, people, technology, and market positioning — all at once. These are the seven lenses I bring to every engagement.
These are not services. They are how I think.

01

Business Strategy & Architecture

Architecture

Business Strategy & Architecture

Strategy is not a plan. It is a structure. I think about where a business should play, how it should win, and how it needs to be built to execute.

02

Blue Ocean & AI-Accelerated Growth

Blue Ocean & AI

Blue Ocean & AI-Accelerated Growth

Most businesses compete harder in shrinking ponds. I help them find new water,  then use AI workflows and technology to make that position resilient and nearly impossible to replicate.

03

Growth & Go-to-Market

Go-to-Market

Growth & Go-to-Market

Revenue does not happen by accident. I build the commercial engine that makes growth repeatable, not a spike. Four countries. A dozen industries.

04

Business Transformation

Transformation

Business Transformation

Organisations know something is broken. They rarely know exactly what. I find the gap between where a business is and where it needs to be,  and close it without destroying what works.

05

Digital Strategy & Platform Thinking

Digital Strategy

Digital Strategy & Platform Thinking

Digital is not a channel. It is a structural decision. Platform architecture, SaaS models, AI-enabled operations, digital GTM. Co-founded Plylo - a live SaaS platform trusted by hundreds across the world.

06

Business Model Design

Business Model

Business Model Design

How a business makes money is the most consequential design decision it will ever make. Most businesses inherit their model by accident. I think about it on purpose -  structuring how value is created, delivered, and captured so that growth compounds rather than plateaus.

07

Leadership & Executive Positioning

Leadership

Leadership & Executive Positioning

The strategy is only as strong as the leader executing it. I think about how founders and CEOs need to reposition, from operators trapped inside the business to architects designing it from above. The most personal lens I bring. And often the most impactful.

How I Think

Three Beliefs That
Drive Everything I Do.

Twenty-six years taught me what matters. Not theories from books, but lessons earned in the work itself.

"Most consultants help you compete harder. I help you compete differently — and then build the systems to make that difference permanent."

— Jamal Kiyasudeen

Systems win always

Whether it was McDonald's, Vasanta Bhavan, Emirates SkyCargo, or a growth-stage SaaS company — the businesses that win are the ones with the clearest systems, the most disciplined execution, and the strongest accountability structures. I have never seen a business fail because of a bad idea. I have seen hundreds fail because of poor systems and weak execution.

I eat what
I cook

Every framework I recommend, every model I design, every strategy I build — I have tested on my own businesses first. I run three businesses simultaneously not as a portfolio hobby, but as a deliberate proof of concept. I stake my own capital, time, and reputation on the same thinking I bring to client engagements. That is the only kind of advice worth taking.

The blue ocean is always there

I am constantly thinking about uncontested market spaces — where competition becomes irrelevant because you have redefined the playing field entirely. And increasingly, I think about how AI automation and intelligent tech stacks can make that position not just achievable but genuinely resilient. These are not trends I follow. They are lenses I apply every single day.

Ventures

Three businesses. One philosophy.

I Eat What I Cook.  These are the dishes I cooked.  Each one runs on the same principles. Systems. Discipline. Real results.
